Gilly Hicks is a sister brand of Abercropmbie & Fitch and Hollister. Specialising in women's underwear such as cute bras and undies, fashion intimates, lounge wear, sleepwear and personal care.

The store will be located on the Upper Level of the Grand Arcade in St David's / Dewi Sant, Cardiff.  The store will be the first in Wales and only the second in the UK.  The store is set to open in December 2011.

The North Face Cardiff

The North Face and Vans to open new stores in Cardiff.

Established brands The North Face and Vans are the latest retailers to join St David’s / Dewi Sant, Cardiff.

Outdoor clothing and equipment specialist The North Face will sell high performance, quality and stylish outdoor products from technical climbing gear to casual apparel. The 3,500 sq ft store - its 11th in the UK and first in Wales - will be located on the upper level of Grand Arcade, close to CK Underwear and Hollister and opposite GAP.

Meanwhile, US footwear and lifestyle brand VANS will open a 2,314 sq ft store on The Hayes – between Hugo Boss and All Saints. Completing the letting of The Hayes, the VANS brand will sell footwear, apparel and accessories for skate, surf and snowboarding.

Steven Madeley, centre director for St David’s said: “The new signings demonstrate how we are continuing to talk to new brands and bring new stores to Cardiff while helping existing retailers to expand their presence in the city. Both The North Face and VANS have excellent reputations and loyal fan bases with a quality offering. Wales boasts an incredible landscape for outdoor activities so I’m sure that these two lifestyle stores will prove popular”.

A new Hush Puppies store is opening in Cardiff in November 2011.

Urban Outfitters Cardiff

Urban Outfitters are set to open a new store in Cardiff. 

The 23,500 sq ft store will be located in the former David Morgan department store on The Hayes, which was previously occupied by Borders bookstore.  The store is set to open on 2 Decemeber 2010.

Urban Outfitters has become a destination store for many shoppers in the UK. The stores stock a range of boutique brands alongside established labels such as Franklin & Marshall, Fred Perry and G-Star.

The retailer currently has 12 stores in the UK in cities such as London, Belfast, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.  Urban Outfitters are planning on opening 4 new branches this year - Bath, Brighton, Cardiff and London Spitalfields.

The Cardiff store will be the first Urban Outfitters in Wales.

USC - New Cardiff Store, St David's

USC open new flagship store in St David's, Cardiff

USC, the fashion retailer, has opened a new store on the Upper Ground of the Grand Arcade in St David's, Cardiff. The store is located next to Blue Inc, the urban fashion store.

With a striking emphasis on denim and footwear as well as male and female fashion, the St David’s store is only the 2nd in the UK to showcase a fresh new format for USC.  The all new 9,621 sq ft store offers customers a one-stop-shop to all the major brands including Diesel, G-Star, Replay and Adidas.

In moving into St David's, USC will join the likes of Republic, Cult, Jack & Jones and Fenchurch.

St David's Cardiff - Student Lock-In

Thousands of students poured into St David’s Cardiff to make its first student lock-in an unprecedented success.

Students lined the streets to gain entry to the event which offered free entertainment and one-night-only discounts from more than 50 top brands within the shopping destination. The queue built up along The Hayes, down Mill Lane and up St Mary Street as an estimated 7,000 students turned out for the lock-in.

Stores reported taking up to half of their usual day’s takings within the first half an hour of the event after students ran in through the doors.

St David’s retailers collaborated for the after-hours lock-in, offering exclusive discounts over and above their usual student discounts. Participating stores offering discounts included Henley’s, Jack Jones, Vero Moda, Apple, Jane Norman and Quiz.

Cult was one of the busiest stores on the night, with queues of more than an hour for each till. Store manager Alan Keery said: “I don’t think it could have gone any better. It was like an invasion with hoards of people running into the store. The queues were constant and went all the way round the store – you couldn’t see the end – it was absolutely nuts. We don’t usually do a student discount so I think that’s why we proved to be so popular. It was definitely an amazing success.”

The event is the first student lock-in that St David’s has held but it proved so successful that St David’s has promised it will be the first of many.  The next event for all shoppers at St David’s will be the fashion weekender (October 30-31) to celebrate its first birthday.
